Once Again Sachin Tendulkar Failed to Make Century |
India vs West Indies 3rd Test – Sachin Tendulkar failed to score his elusive ton as Windies pacer, Ravi Rampaul spoiled the party to dismiss the little maestro on 94 as the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai sat in stunned silence.
The biggest roar of the day came when the Indian veteran duo came out to bat, with Tendulkar resuming from his overnight score of 67, while VVS Laxman taking guard on 32.
The latter failed to add anything to his tally and perished on the first ball he faced from pacer, Fidel Edwards. Laxman pushed tentatively to a full length delivery which went straight to gully fielder, Marlon Samuels.
However, this did not stop the crowd from cheering every run that came off Tendulkar’s bat. The Little genius also did not hung around, as he played his shots to all around the park. After hitting a couple of boundaries off Rampaul, he latched onto a half volley from Edwards before hitting an upper cut for a six.
This brought him into his nineties, with crowd on his feet. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli had joined him and looked in considerable ease as he collected a couple of boundaries to reach to the double digit mark.
With six more needed for Tendulkar to reach to his ton, tragedy struck. In trying to cut a ball which was climbing, he only managed it to steer it straight into the hands of second slip, where an overjoyed Windies skipper, Darren Sammy made no mistake.
The crowd was shocked as Rampaul and Sammy celebrated while the Little Master making a long walk back to the pavilion. He Looked at his bat, then the crowd and went off to a resounding reception, however, it’s still anxious wait for him and his fans.
This brought Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the crease with the stadium still coming to terms with what had just happened. The Men In Blue have posted 324 on the board and still have a long way to go before overcoming the first innings score of 590,which was put on by the tourists in their first innings.
