Australia vs England Ashes Series 2010: Ricky Ponting Injury

Australia vs England Ashes Series 2010: Australian captain, Ricky Ponting is willing to take risk in his future by playing with his injured finger. He has been struggling with huge pain and keen to play in next Ashes test beginning on Boxing Day 26 December, 2010.
Rickey Ponting has got injured his little finger while trying to take catch of Jonathan Trott in the second slip on third day of the Third test match in which they managed to win with big margin of 267 runs at Perth.

Ponting is confident on his fitness and feels that he can perform well in the next Test. The selection panel has called Usman Khawaja, the New South Wales’s batsmen as a standby for Ricky Ponting. Usman has joined the sessions in Melbourne. Ponting is not likely to bat until the last two days before the test match. He might not field in his regular position of slips as if any further to the finger will not allow him to bat at all.
According to the Australian media, Ponting took part in the training session that happened on Thursday and had found no difficulty in fielding or throwing the ball.
Australian physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris stated that in any other test Rickey would think of resting himself but it will not be in this case. As it was so important to the team to win the next test and go with upper hand to regain the Ashes Series.
