With India's packed tour of South Africa set to start and end just 26 days before the game's biggest tournament begins, one wonders if all this cricket this year could be counter-productive to Team India's preparations for the coveted 2011 World Cup.

In terms of the sheer volume of cricket being played every year, India have already played the most amount of cricket, surpassing, as they do almost every year, every other team competing in the World Cup.

Some critics have long claimed that there is too much cricket being played, while other experts maintain that cricketers should be fit enough and teams ought to be smart enough with their player rotation to cope and deal with the lengthy calendar.
