Indian Premier League (IPL) CEO, Sunder Raman and three members of the IPL Kochi franchisee today inspected the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in the city to take stock of the facilities.
They held a closed door meeting with Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) officials including secretary, TC Mathew.
Later talking to reporters, Vivek Venugopal, one of the franchisees of Kochi IPL, said they were happy with the stadium and would ensure that at least seven home matches are played here.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a deadline till February 28 to complete the works -- re-turfing, flood lights and security. The KCA will have to ensure that by february end all works with regard to the stadium are completed.
"We have about two and half months now. I think we shold be ready with the ground and other arrangements and complete works as per BCCI guidelines. More than two Keralites would be part of the IPK Kochi team," he said.
Mathew, said several aspects were discussed with the IPL officials and team owners.
KCA president, TR Balakrishnan the team owners were fully satisfied with the stadium. The preliminary work on the stadium will begin soon and by January all the work will begin in full swing.
Three membes from IPL consortium, three from Kochi IPL and two from International Management Goup (IMG) came for discussions.
