India vs West Indies live score: 3rd Test ends in a draw, India clinch series 2-0

Once Again Sachin Tendulkar Failed to Make Century
After several ups and down, West Indies managed to secure a draw in the final Test against India here at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

India vs West Indies 3rd Test – Sachin Tendulkar failed to score his elusive ton as Windies pacer, Ravi Rampaul spoiled the party to dismiss the little maestro on 94 as the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai sat in stunned silence.

The biggest roar of the day came when the Indian veteran duo came out to bat, with Tendulkar resuming from his overnight score of 67, while VVS Laxman taking guard on 32.
The latter failed to add anything to his tally and perished on the first ball he faced from pacer, Fidel Edwards. Laxman pushed tentatively to a full length delivery which went straight to gully fielder, Marlon Samuels.
However, this did not stop the crowd from cheering every run that came off Tendulkar’s bat. The Little genius also did not hung around, as he played his shots to all around the park. After hitting a couple of boundaries off Rampaul, he latched onto a half volley from Edwards before hitting an upper cut for a six.
This brought him into his nineties, with crowd on his feet. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli had joined him and looked in considerable ease as he collected a couple of boundaries to reach to the double digit mark.
With six more needed for Tendulkar to reach to his ton, tragedy struck. In trying to cut a ball which was climbing, he only managed it to steer it straight into the hands of second slip, where an overjoyed Windies skipper, Darren Sammy made no mistake.
The crowd was shocked as Rampaul and Sammy celebrated while the Little Master making a long walk back to the pavilion. He Looked at his bat, then the crowd and went off to a resounding reception, however, it’s still anxious wait for him and his fans.
This brought Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the crease with the stadium still coming to terms with what had just happened. The Men In Blue have posted 324 on the board and still have a long way to go before  overcoming the first innings score of 590,which was put on by the tourists in their first innings.

3rd Test: India aim for clean sweep against West Indies

India vs West Indies
The series in their grasp following convincing victories in the first two matches, India would be aiming for a clean sweep against the West Indies in the third and final Test commencing at the Wankhede stadium on Tuesday.

All eyes will once again be on Sachin Tendulkar, who is just one short of his elusive 100th international century. Having missed the chance to get it in the first two Tests, he will be keen to finally achieve the remarkable milestone on his home turf.

The batting maestro has been waiting since March 12, when he got his 99th international hundred in the World Cup league tie against South Africa at Nagpur, to reach the milestone.

If the West Indies want to clinch the final inconsequential Test and give themselves a big morale boost ahead of the five-match one-day rubber that follows, they need to get their act together in all departments of the game.

A glimpse of what the visiting team's batsmen are capable of if they apply themselves and play with determination was there to be seen in the second innings of the second Test in Kolkata when they nearly saved the innings defeat after yet another poor batting display in the first innings.

The way their exciting talent Darren Bravo, who made a stylish 136 and Marlon Samuels (84) batted against the rampaging Indian spin duo of Pragyan Ojha and Ravichandran Ashwin has given them a confidence boost for the final match of the rubber.

With opener Adrian Barath and no. 3 Kirk Edwards also notching individual half centuries, the visitors would be looking forward to a similar batting display.

They have an injury worry ahead of the match with the ever-dependent Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who suffered a calf muscle strain, taking a break from the practice session yesterday, but he's expected to take his place in the playing line-up.

Chanderpaul is a key batsman with his ability to play very late on Indian pitches and his record against the hosts is tremendous - over 2000 runs at over 65 per innings with seven centuries to boot from 23 encounters.

The 37-year-old Guyanese is crucial to West Indies hopes of notching up a consolation victory in the rubber in which they are 0-2 down after losing to India at Delhi and Kolkata. He has scored a century (118) and two 47s in the four innings so far.

Pacer Ravi Rampaul, who missed the second Test after appearing in the opener because of a stomach upset, has recovered fully and is available for selection.

There's a question mark about the West Indies bowling attack which has largely struggled to dismiss the formidable Indian batting line-up though pitch curator Sudhir Naik has promised a "sporting wicket".

"It is a sporting track. There is some grass on it. On the first three days it will assist the seamers and will help the spinners on the fourth and fifth day. Even the West Indies bowlers would love bowling here," said the former India opener on Sunday.

"There will be some nip in the morning and the breeze is also likely to help bowlers in the post-tea session," added Naik who had prepared the much-praised wicket for the World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka on April 2.

The hosts, on the other hand, are sitting pretty though they would be wary of becoming complacent and pay the price of the dead rubber syndrome.

India's batting clicked in style at Kolkata after they had conceded the first innings lead in the Delhi opener.

The brisk starts provided by Virender Sehwag, who notched up breezy half tons in both the innings of the Delhi match, in the company of Gautam Gambhir have been the ideal fillip for the likes of Rahul Dravid, Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to feast on.

The failure of Yuvraj Singh to make it big in the two Tests, after his poor show in England till he got injured and returned home, has given Virat Kohli a golden chance to resume his Test career which began in the West Indies earlier this year.

He did not really take advantage of the opportunities he got in the Caribbean, with 30 being his best effort in the five innings he batted in the three-match rubber.

Mumbai's Rohit Sharma, who missed making his Test debut in Nagpur against Australia two years ago when he picked up an ankle injury half an hour before the game commenced, is in the side as replacement for Yuvraj but Virat is expected to be given a chance in the playing eleven.

While the Indian batting, formidable as it is in home conditions, was expected to come good, the heart-warming display put up by its inexperienced bowling attack has come as a major boost.

Spinners Pragyan Ojha and R Ashwin have been the main wreckers of the West Indian batting line-up on the slow spinning surfaces of low bounce.

Having taken 26 wickets (13 apiece) in the first two matches, the duo pose the main threat to the visiting team's batsmen who, however, negotiated them much better in the second innings at Kolkata when the wicket also had eased a bit.

The pitch for the third Test may not be as conducive to spin as the first two Test tracks and the slow bowlers need to prey on the patience of the West Indian batsmen to prise out errors.

The other rookie in the bowling attack, speedster Umesh Yadav, has also impressed and, in fact, bagged more wickets (9) than his senior partner Ishant Sharma, who has been, at times, wayward.

Both would be performing with an eye on the team selection for the forthcoming tour to Australia.

The organisers, Mumbai Cricket Association, have decided to throw open part of the North Stand free for 2,000 school children to watch the game and cheer the players. The response from the paying spectators is, however, lukewarm though the cheap East Stand tickets are expected to be booked.

The teams (from):

India: M S Dhoni (Capt.), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Umesh Yadav, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Sharma, Varun Aaron

Live Scores India vs West Indies, 2nd Test match: Laxman slams 17th Test ton

India on Tuesday November 15 has gathered a mammoth 631 before declaring its first innings for the loss of seven wickets on the second day of second test match against West Indies. At stumps, West Indies was struggling at 34/2. The last hour of the second day was called off due to bad light. Prior to that, India's new comers Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin bagged a wicket each to put West Indies on the backfoot.
Earlier, India's batting fiesta continued on day 2 with VVS Laxman first completing his 17th test century, and continuing his dominance with the bat to remain unbeaten on 176. He shared a 224-run partnership with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni who scored a quickfire 144. But Dhoni was lucky to score his century as he twice escaped getting caught behind in three overs, when Cameroon Roche overstepped the ball on both occasions. After that, Dhoni played some magnificent strokes to entertain the sparse crowd at Eden Garden. The poor attendance continued on day 2, with only a few hundred spectators flocking the stadium.
