World Twenty20 winner is anyone's guess

The World Twenty20 explodes into action this week in tropical Sri Lanka with no runaway favourite and upsets likely in cricket's shortest and least predictable form.
At least half of the 12 participating nations will consider themselves strong contenders to lift the trophy in Colombo on October 7, with the others hopeful of living up to the event's reputation for shocks.
From defending champions England, the powerful West Indies and formidable South Africa to Asia's top three -- former winners India and Pakistan, and Sri Lanka -- the field is strong and deep.
The others won't be taken lightly either, if a string of sensational results in the tournament's three previous editions are any indication.
While many purists are unconvinced by Twenty20, and fear the impact on Test cricket, there's no doubting its entertainment value.
India, initially reluctant to embrace the newest format, won the inaugural event in South Africa in 2007 under rookie skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni after senior pros Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly opted out.
It was in the same tournament that Zimbabwe stunned Australia, Bangladesh upset the West Indies, and India brushed aside England, South Africa, Australia and Pakistan in successive games to grab the title.
Pakistan won the second edition in England in 2009, a tournament that made a stunning start when the Netherlands, a non Test-playing nation, upset the hosts by four wickets in front of a packed house at Lord's.
England claimed the 2010 title in the Caribbean, but it was Australia's amazing win over Pakistan in the semi-final that remained the talking point.
With 34 needed from the final two overs, Michael Hussey smashed 38 off 10 balls to take Australia home with one delivery to spare.
Only last week, Australia trounced Pakistan by 94 runs to avenge two successive defeats against the same opponents.

Twenty20: India vs England(Ind v Eng) T20 Squads, Live Score, Oct 29 2011

India and England are going to face for the one and the only T20 match later today.
MS Dhoni and Co. will take on reigning T2O Champions England in a one-off T20 on Saturday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. England, seeking their first win on the disastrous tour, will be hoping to end the tour on a high.
Pietersen's fate depends on the results of a fitness test conducted on Friday and his absence would deplete England's strength to a great extent as he is their best bet against spin.
Offie Graeme Swann, who would lead the side in the absence of injured regular T20 skipper Stuart Broad, has to deliver the goods in bowling alongside his left-arm spin partner Samit Patel in what is likely to be another slow surface, like the one seen on Tuesday.
Uthappa said a win in the Twenty20 match after the 5-0 whitewash of England in the ODI would be like the proverbial icing on the cake.
But he cautioned that England, the world's No.1 Twenty20 side, have the ability to bounce back. 'They will definitely want to come back hard at us and finish the tour with a win.

India vs England: Raina, Kohli shine as hosts win by 6 wickets

Despite a terrific start, England bowlers failed to restrict the Indian juggernaut as Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli powered India to a comprehensive 6-wicket victory in the fourth ODI at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a modest 221, India were once three down for just 46. But the two young stars soon put the Indian chase on track with gritty knocks and pulled off a sensational win at the same ground where the hosts clinched the famous World Cup trophy six months ago.
While Raina scored 80 off 62 balls before falling to Steven Finn, Kohli, who hit the winning boundary, stayed unbeaten at 86.  Both motored to a 131-run stand at close to seven an over.
Earlier, debutant pacer Varun Aaron and off-spinner R Ashwin claimed three wickets each to help India bundle out England for 220.
Electing to bat, England got off to a cautious start. Indian skipper MS Dhoni soon introduced Ashwin to get a breakthrough on the flat track. Ashwin obliged his master and sent back English captain Alastair Cook (10) by trapping him leg before wickets at the score of 39.
Praveen Kumar capitalized on the breakthrough and sent back Craig Kieswetter without any addition on the scorecard.
England were 39/2 when Kevin Pietersen joined Jonathan Trott at the crease. The duo played sensibly to rescue their side from the double blow. They rotated strike to keep the scorecard moving.
However, after a brief recovery, England were again seen on the back foot with quick dismissal of Trott and Pietersen. While Vinay Kumar dismissed Trott (39), Ashwin sent back Pietersen (41), triggering visitors’ collapse.
Ravindra Jadeja added to England’s misery with twin-blow, removing Ravi Bopara (8) and Jonny Bairstow (9).
Ashwin then got Samit Patel caught by Kohli to claim his third victim. Tim Bresnan, however, tried hard to propel the side to a respectable total. But newcomer Aaron, who had a wicket less first spell, struck in the death over to wrap the English tail to justify his selection in the squad.
Aaron bowled out Scott Borthwick, Stuart Meaker and Bresnan to make an impressive debut in the 50-over game.

Injured Sachin Tendulkar out of ODI series in England

Sachin Tendulkar
It would not be an exaggeration if one says the England tour has proved to be a jinxed one for the Indian cricket team. Having lost eight players on the tour already to various injuries, India are now struggling to compile a playing XI for the second ODI that would give them a chance to win their first international match on the English soil in the current series.

List of Injured Players :
  1. Rohit Sharma,
  2. Virender Sehwag,
  3. Zaheer Khan,
  4. Gautam Gambhir,
  5. Yuvraj Singh,
  6. Ishant Sharma,
  7. Harbhajan Singh and
  8. Sachin Tendulkar
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the remainder of the one-day series against England as he needs to rest for four to six weeks to recover from an inflamed big toe on his right foot. The injury to Tendulkar has paved the way for his replacement S Badrinath to stake yet another claim for a place in the Indian squad.

At the time only 6 batesmen ( Included Dhoni ) are available for selection in plaing XI For Second ODI. So All of You Pray to GOD for Health Indian Cricketers.

Indian squad for five-match One-Day International series against England

The Indian team lost the final match by an innings margin which meant England didn’t have to bat again. In the post match ceremony Dhoni was smiling as ever but he was not at all hesitant in saying that India lost the series because of the batmen. English captain on the other hand, seemed pretty happy as they won the series and are now crowned number 1 in tests.

The Indian team will be hoping for a better show in one dayers and both teams will play 5 ODI’s and one T-20 match in the coming days. It will be quite difficult for India to comeback from such a demoralizing defeat but they will have to fight hard to win.

India vs England 1st Test Match Preview, England beat India by 196 runs

India vs England 1st Test Match Preview
England beat India by 196 runs in this 2000th Test match at Lord's on Monday, which was also the 100th Test between India and England.

India started the day with an overnight score of 80/1 with VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid at the crease as a target of 458 runs loomed large. Eventually, the target proved too massive for injury-hit India.

In the morning session the visitors lost their opener Rahul Dravid when a James Anderson ball took a thick edge off his bat to land in the keeper Mat Prior's gloves. He fell for 36 and India were down to 96/2.

Post Dravid's wicket Laxman and Gautam Gambhir became overtly cautious, playing on the deliveries that were coming straight to the bat and leaving the rest. They didn't have a choice and they needed to stay in the middle for long to save the Test.

Gradually, the two started chipping away from the massive 458-run target. But the partnership eventually came to an end when Anderson came around to get rid of Laxman on 56. Laxman went for a pull and ended up getting caught by Bell.

In the next over England spinner Graeme Swann struck Gambhir on the pads and he was adjudged LBW on 22. India were 135/4 at the stage and were looking down the barrel.

Once again Sachin Tendulkar stepped in and once again his fans cutting across nationalities started praying for his elusive 100th international century.

Tendulkar's partner in the middle was left-hander, Suresh Raina.

At lunch India were 142/4, with Tendulkar and Raina at the crease and the visitors needed a massive 316 runs.

A few minutes had gone by into the second session when England bowlers got the man they wanted. Sachin's fans were again left disappointed when a James Anderson delivery trapped the batting maestro plumb in the front of the wicket when he was on 12.

This was after he got two lives. First a Stuart Broad ball trapped him leg-before when he was on 11, but he was saved as the DRS is not being used for leg-before decisions in this series. And then, a ball before Anderson got him, he was dropped in the slips by Andrew Strauss. So Tendulkar's highest at Lord's continues to be 37.

Post Tendulkar's fall, Raina and skipper MS Dhoni batted with resolve to avoid defeat. The two Chennai Super Kings team-mates could be seen sharing a good partnership in the middle. At tea, the two were going steady at the crease and India score was 218/5.

But the third session had a different tale to tell. Minutes into it, skipper MS Dhoni was seen walking back with Chris Tremlett claiming his first wicket of the innings when the India total was 225/6.

Post that wicket it was a matter of time before England players were out there celebrating their win. The biggest hurdle in front of them was Suresh Raina and James Anderson scalped him to increase his victims tally to five and provided England with a fine win 196-run win.

Raina scored a dogged 78, but could not save India from the jaws of defeat. Kevin Pietersen won the Man of the Match for his unbeaten double hundred.
