Highlights :

A four-wicket burst by pacer Dale Steyn wrecked the famed Indian batting with the visitors reeling at 183 for six on a lively Kingsmead track at the end of first day's play in the second Test against South Africa here Sunday.

Steyn (4-36) was the pick of the bowlers, hitting the right length to take four wickets. Left-arm seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe (2-40) took two wickets, including that of Sachin Tendulkar.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (20) and Harbhajan Singh (15), who struck two Test centuries against New Zealand at home this year, were at the crease when bad light stopped play, three overs after tea.

Earlier, India lost four wickets in the second session. Tendulkar (13) left immediately after lunch when he edged a wide delivery to Jacques Kallis at second slip.

Rahul Dravid (25) and V.V.S. Laxman (38) looked to draw from their vast experience and got down to forge a partnership. Laxman came up with some crisp boundaries and a pulled-six off Steyn. The two survived half-chances and added 38 runs before Dravid was beatifully set-up by Steyn, drawing him forward with good length balls and finally managing an edge.

Laxman fell to a brilliant reflex catch from Tsotsobe at mid-wicket.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who replaced Suresh Raina, played 45 balls for his 19 before throwing his wicket through an indecisive pull and top edging the ball, giving Tsotsobe his second wicket.

Earlier, Steyn dismissed Virender Sehwag (25) and Murali Vijay (19) after both enjoyed their share of lives and raised 43 for the opening partnership.

It looked like a repeat of the Centurion Test when Indian skipper Dhoni lost the toss in overcast conditions and Graeme Smith put the visitors in. The morning drizzle delayed the start by an hour and left the pitch, which looks greener than the one at Centurion, and the outfield moist.

The ball darted around sharply and bounced high, testing the two openers. Albie Morkel, who ran through the Indian line-up at Centurion, struggled to find the right length and was not as lethal as he was in the first Test, but Steyn was quick to get into the groove.

Vijay, who came in for injured Gautam Gambhir, struggled with his footwork and was indecisive in judging the length of the ball. He was lucky to be dropped by Paul Harris at first slip off Steyn.

Sehwag backed his istincts, hitting Morkel and Tsotsobe for two boundaries each. Steyn pitched the ball up and Sehwag edged the moving delivery to Jacques Kallis, who took the catch high at second slip.

Vijay, after managing to escape the outstretched hands of a diving AB de Villiers at third slip, ran out of luck and edged the next Steyn delivery to wicketkeeper Mark Boucher.

Tendulkar, who struck his 50th Test century in the first Test, upper-cut a bouncing Morkel delivery for a four and then mishit a similar ball for another boundary over the keeper's head to survive the last over before lunch, with India at 74 for two.

Legendary cricketers Imran Khan, Kapil Dev, Vivian Richards and Arjuna Ranatunga shared their ideas about how to make the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 presentation truly entertaining and engaging at a recently held press conference.

There were several new initiatives that were proposed in the discussion like live match coverage by 3G mobile streaming in India where fans will enjoy unrestricted access to the biggest cricket event on internet and mobile besides televisions. Also another first of its kind initiative would be the 'Decision Review System' which will be introduced for the first time for any ICC tournament. "It will certainly be a very big challenge to organize an event of this magnitude that will be spread across 13 venues in three host countries — Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka for a month," informs ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 tournament director, Ratnakar Shetty.

"To create more excitement and interest amongst the viewers we have taken some new initiatives which will intensify the passion amongst the cricket fans," added ICC chief executive, Haroon Lorgat.

Speaking on the occasion, former Pakistan cricket captain Imran Khan said, "India has performed really well in the last few years. They definitely stand the chance to win the cup. Another team that according to Imran can upstage any strong team is Sri Lanka. "But I'm dying to see India win the cup. The Indian team has turned out to be the best. Best teams do come under pressure and it is all about how you cope with the pressures."

Kapil Dev said, "Two months are left for the world cup to begin. The team is doing well especially the youngsters in the team have done a commendable job in recent matches. At the end of the day, it's all about team spirit and playing according to the situation." Further according to Kapil Dev, the main key players from the Indian team would be MS Dhoni, Sachin, Sehwag, Pathan and Gambhir.

Vivian Richards is, however, rooting for the West Indies team, and believes that the team would do well in the World Cup. He is hopeful that India being a strong team, would definitely reach the final. "The young players have been performing well. Also since the matches will be played on the home ground they are definitely going to have an edge over other teams."

However, Arjuna Rantunga feels that Sri Lanka will come blazing on all cylinders this World Cup. "There is a lot of experienced players in the Sri Lankan team like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Malinga, Muralitharan and others who will surely make a difference."

ICC CWC : Ganguly hopeful about India's chances at 2011 World Cup

ICC CWC : Ganguly hopeful about India's chances at 2011 World Cup, Icc Cricket World Cup Match

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly said he is hopeful the recently announced Indian squad would win the forthcoming World Cup.
Interacting with mediapersons here on Thursday, Ganguly said that seeing the performance of Indian players at home ground, a victory in the World Cup could be expected.
"I am very hopeful. India is a very strong One Day International (ODI) team and they are playing it at home. If they can handle the pressure of the people at home, they'll be at the side who can win the World Cup," said Ganguly.
He further remarked that the team's performance in the first test against South Africa was disappointing but he was optimistic of the second test in Durban.
"Nobody wants to lose, am sure none of us, none of the players, or the team, or the supporters would be happy with the loss. But it can happen. You can win some game, you can lose some game, and am sure they will bounce back in the next tour... obviously toss will be important," said Ganguly.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - live cricket match

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will be held in Bangladesh in Feb. A spectacular opening ceremony as well as eight matches will be held here. The authorities concerned are working hard to make the event a success.

In the 11th South Asian Games that was held in Dhaka recently there were accommodation and transportation problems, and a little bit of mismanagement.
Most of the institutions that were involved with the SA Games were commercial-minded. So, they prioritized profit rather than the fame of the country.

Some foreign athletes had to wait at the airport for few hours due to unavailability of transport. They also had problems in getting rooms in the hotel.
The liaison officers eventually managed a nearby hotel with the help of volunteers, for the exhausted athletes.

We do not want a repetition of these kinds of unexpected incidents during the World Cup 2011.
